THE CHP COMMISSIONING PROCESS
Generator commissioning is the process of bringing a generator set online and ensuring it is operating correctly. This process can sometimes be complex, as it involves mechanical equipment, fuel and storage tanks and (often) civil works as well. In CHP installation projects, the complexities are often even greater as the system needs to be powered up to provide heat as well as electrical power. In our commissioning service we take care of installing the generator itself, transmission and distribution lines, switchgear, and other necessary equipment.
We then carry out extensive testing to ensure that it is generating heat and power within the specified parameters. Testing can involve including load testing, thermal imaging, and vibrational analysis. We also often test sound attenuation and fuel efficiency. Once the generator has been tested and is operating correctly, it can be put into service safely. As well as working through our in-house testing checklist, we’ll also be using our unbeatable experience to look for the non-obvious faults and potential problem areas that others may miss.
