As a family founded, owned and run business, we are committed to serving our customers and looking after our people as we strive to become the biggest and best power generation company in the UK.
It all began back in 1983 when Ken Wilmott, his wife and brother, set up Wilmott Brothers. Our first project was the maintenance of generators at Nottingham’s prestigious Queen’s Medical Centre hospital. Around the same time, we were commissioned to undertake modifications on generators for the British Antarctic Survey. By 1985, we had taken on two apprentices – the first of many – and within 10 years, we had grown so much that we needed larger premises. After a management buyout in 2003 by Ken and Val Wilmott, we changed our name from Wilmott Brothers to WB Power Services, or WBPS. Awards and recognition came our way and in 2010 we became Yorkshire Water’s Contractor of the Year. Then in 2011 we were named East Midlands Family Business of the Year. 2015 saw our 200th fleet hire generator, with our 3000th generator following in 2016 – the same year that we won the generator contract for the UK’s largest data centre. We now employ over 100 people at our Head Office in Derbyshire and around the country.
With decades of experience in the critical power industry, our Board of Directors work closely with our departmental teams to ensure all WBPS employees remain dedicated to delivering the best in quality and service to our customers, clients and suppliers.
