DUNDEE POWER CUT: CHECK AND REPORT

Open the SSEN live power cut map first, then call 105 if you cannot see your area. If you see a fallen line, keep away and assume it is live. Offices and workshops should make a note of the time the supply failed and any reference number given by the operator, in case of a later claim.

At home, rule out your own wiring first. A tripped switch in the consumer unit affects your property alone, while dark windows across the street point to a network fault worth reporting. If the switches will not reset, leave them alone and call an electrician.

  • Winter cuts get cold fast: gather everyone in one room, draw the curtains and add layers.
  • Keep the freezer shut and pick meals that need no cooking.
  • Use torches, and turn off the cooker and heaters so nothing comes back on unattended.
  • Unplug computers, TVs and chargers until the supply has steadied.

DUNDEE BUSINESSES NEED A PLAN B

Industrial estates along Kingsway and firms around the waterfront and docklands keep Dundee trading. When supply drops, workshops stop mid-job, chilled stock starts to warm and offices lose phones and IT. We offer 24/7 emergency generator hire, along with standby generators and routine servicing for sites that want cover in place before the next cut. Offices, workshops and food businesses each need different cover, so tell us what must keep running and where a set could stand. One generator can carry the essentials while the rest of the site waits for the grid. For standby power in Tayside, start with our Edinburgh generator service, and our guide to keeping your business running sets out the choices.
