WB Power critical power solutions has helped to provide backup power for a multi-million pound data centre.
Leading power generation provider WB Power Services (WBPS) has played a leading role in providing critical power services to global data centre and critical environment specialist, Keysource.
In a project completed this year, WBPS was asked to provide support with a back-up power solution to meet the additional power load of a newly built data centre in Hampshire. The project requirements included generator installation, plant room installation, working to footprint and space restrictions, providing bespoke support frames and sync controller modification.
WBPS is the largest Kohler generator distributor in Europe and installed two T2200kVA Kohler-SDMO generator sets for the project.
Keysource needed a back-up power solution for its support of a first-floor data centre and approached WBPS to scope, design and install a new back-up power solution to meet the additional power load of the new-build project once completed.
Severe space limitations meant that the project had several challenges. The two Kohler generators had to be put in place using a third-party cranage company and then skated in and secured. The lack of space meant WBPS had to come up with a solution around the placement of the generator silencers, which could not be hung from the ceiling in a traditional style project format. The Project Team instead created an alternative solution in constructing a bespoke silencer support frame
The generators were installed with plant room acoustic equipment, placed alongside two incumbent generators, with connection made to an existing fuel tank arrangement.
