Reading Power Cut Checker
Use this page to see if there is currently a power cut in Reading.
Reading is on the SSEN network. Check its live map for outages, or call 105 free. For businesses, our Reading generator service runs 24/7.
SSEN (Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks) delivers power to Reading. Enter your postcode on the SSEN PowerTrack map, then call 105 if your cut is not listed. Anything that looks like a broken line should be treated as live.
Before reporting it, see whether the problem is limited to your property. Look at the trip switch or fuse box, and reset a tripped switch only if it is safe to do so. Check with neighbours and see whether the street lights are out too, then use the map to see whether SSEN has recorded the interruption.
While you wait, keep fridge and freezer doors closed and use a torch rather than candles. Unplug sensitive equipment so it is less exposed when supply returns, and check whether a neighbour may need practical help. Keep a phone charged so you can check PowerTrack for updates.
Thames Valley Park and Green Park house offices, data-heavy teams and tech operations, and the Royal Berkshire Hospital never stops. When supply drops, servers, tills and phone systems go with it, and teams handling stock, visitors or payments may have to pause until power is restored. Even a short cut can force a restart of networked systems once power returns. Our 24/7 emergency generator hire provides temporary power while the mains is down. We also supply standby generators and carry out generator servicing and maintenance, so organisations can have backup in place before an outage. Tell us which equipment must keep running and we can suggest a temporary or standby arrangement to match. Read how to keep your business running to plan cover before it happens.

SSEN later called Eunice the worst storm to hit its central southern area in over 30 years. Households that may need support in an outage may be eligible for the Priority Services Register.
