To report a fault, call 105 (free, any hour). A dangerous line down is an emergency, so keep people back and say so on the call.
Nobody else affected? Look at the consumer unit, since a tripped switch inside the house is a common cause. If the whole street and the lamps outside are dark, check the map and report the cut if it is not listed. When the same switch trips straight after a reset, unplug appliances one by one to find the faulty one.

RECENT STORM DISRUPTION
Storm Dave, on 4–5 April 2026, brought strong winds that cut power to over 33,100 Northern Powergrid customers across its regions. By 6 April the operator reported all of them back on supply. Customers who are older, have a health condition or are in other vulnerable circumstances may be eligible for the Priority Services Register, a free service that records extra support needs with the network operator.
