WB Power Services is a leading generator specialist that provides solutions, maintenance, sales and hire to customers across the UK. We currently have a vacancy for a passionate, qualified and proactive depot based generator service engineer to join our team.

Your duties will include but are not exclusive to:

  • Working on diesel generator sets ranging from 500 KVA – 2.5 MW 
  • Troubleshooting
  • Working with control and switch gear
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification on control systems
  • Control panel upgrades
  • Modification of existing systems
  • Testing to meet specification requirements
  • Pre delivery inspections
  • Off hire inspections
  • Sharing skills and knowledge with apprentices
  • On occasion to attend sites to deliver sets, or maintain sets situated on a customer site

To be considered for this role you need to have an NVQ 3 in an electro/mechanical discipline or 5 years field experience.  You need to have prior experience with control panel fault finding, change over panels, automatic Mains Failure panels, PLC’s or changing electrical components.

We currently have a vacancy for a passionate, qualified and proactive Commissioning Engineer to join our team.

Your duties will include but are not exclusive to:

  • Liaising with site services and construction engineers to ensure customer specific requirements have been met, and that you have accurately and precisely interpreted drawings to ensure a successful installation and commission of any number of generators.
  • Liaise with the customer where required and Project Manager to schedule handover
  • Produces method statements and updates test records. Ensures any changes to agreed specification have been fully documented and form part of the verification process.
  • Follows detailed procedures to ensure customer specific requirements have been met, the engine correctly installed and safety procedures followed. Completes application and installation checks
  • Continually updates the Project Manager on a daily basis with commissioning progress when on site.
  • Manages own tooling and test equipment to ensure it is well maintained and in date for calibration.
  • Manage personal time keeping and work scope to achieve the commissioning works within the time frame allocated.
  • Completes engine trial to ensure it is operating to specification, running a series of tests and checks on the engine, analysing performance and making operational changes needed within the range permitted by the engine manufacturer.
  • Contributes to the final technical documentation packages, ensuring the presentation format meets customer needs and reflects on WBPS Ltd as a quality partner.
  • Adheres to WBPS policies, current legislation and all H&S standards, highlighting any concerns in a timely manner  
  • Responsible for commissioning AP duties
  • Responsible for control & instrumentation commissioning 

In order to fulfil this role you will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:

  • Ability to interpret and follow electrical drawings and schedules.
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety standards and policies.
  • Hold a Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints and working conditions.
  • Good understanding of Electrical and Mechanical safety practices.
  • Good knowledge of controls and instrumentation operation
  • Power application and fault finding
  • Electronics and mechanical application and fault finding
  • Generator control systems application and operation
  • Thermal systems, application and fault finding
  • Basic computer skills
  • City & Guilds 18th edition electrical regulations (Or superior Qualification)
  • SAP/AP qualification & registration
  • ECS Card holder.
  • Experience with Gas and CHP engine configurations would be an advantage
  • HV Experience. and PLC knowledge.

To be considered for this role you will ideally be located Nottingham or further South.
